If I was a refugee

This term my class and I  have been reading this book called refugee and so I decided to write a story about if I were a refugee and this is what I have written.

Hi, my name is Chardonnay and I am 19. I live in New Zealand with my nan, mum, dad, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

Due to the war that has recently happened, my older brother George died in the bombings in our town. we all were very sad, especially my dad who wasn't the same after what happened to my brother. This war has made me always very scared and frightened.

You may ask why there is a war? The American government came to my country because they had no room in their country.  They decided to live on our land. When all the New Zealanders said no, they decided to go to war against us over the land. Many of my friends and whanau have been killed. We also have not been going to school due to this war. Mum and dad haven't been going to work, so we are running low on food supplies and money.

Due to this incident, we have not eaten in days.

I hope for the future this does not happen again for the sake of my kids. I am very emotional because it has happened for me in the past and I would not want my kids to go through the same thing.

2. Why would these challenges be even harder for a refugee? Because they would be seen as even more different and it makes their daily life harder.

3. What events led to Christian’s family being forced to flee from their country? wars began with Iraq and America because of terrorism and Iraq became very dangerous.

4. On page 36 the author mentions “a coffee shop, a school, a football field” they are bombing public places up.

READING

This week, my class and I did a graphic novel about a girl named Rez. Her family had just moved to a new country named new Zealand, her dad grew up in Kurdistan and had escaped to Iran because of war. And her mum also fled to Iran too. That's where her mum and dad met each other and were considered Refugees. Refugees are people who have been forced to leave their home due to war or a terrible disaster.
